Commercial Banking Portfolio Manager - Bangor

FUNCTION:  Working under the Senior Portfolio Manager, the Portfolio Manager works directly with assigned Commercial Banking Officers and is responsible for credit delivery, administration, and related servicing necessary for effective client retention and cross sales activities.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

 

Business Development: 

  • Focuses on identifying cross sales opportunities and working with internal business partners to deliver solutions in a timely manner.  Responsibilities include the maintenance of the commercial cross sales data bases and ensure appropriate follow-up is carried out accordingly.
  • Participates in select client meetings and company visits.  Will assist the Commercial Banking Officer in discover and presentation call plans, post call file memorandum, CCD data integrity and executing all applicable IMPACT sales tools and routines.

 

Administration:  

  • Provides overall portfolio support to Commercial Banking Officer as assigned.
  • Works with assigned Commercial Banking Officers in handling the credit administrative aspects of their respective portfolios allowing the Commercial Banking Officer more time to focus on business development efforts and new client acquisition.
  • Works closely with the Commercial Banking Officer and the Credit Department to facilitate timely decision on new loan requests, loan modifications and renewals.
  • Works closely with the Commercial Banking Assistant and Commercial Banking Officer to provide high level customer service support.
  • Becomes an active part of the relationship “team” working closely with the Commercial Banking Officer, client and client’s professional advisors in analyzing performance information, responding to loan requests, monitoring relationships for compliance with terms and conditions of the loan agreement.
  • On selected transactions, review initial loan request with the Commercial Banking Officer.  Provides feedback as it pertains to credit soundness and structuring.  Works with credit department to ensure a decision in a timely manner.
  • May work closely with the Commercial Banking Officer and Commercial Banking Assistant with regards to loan documentation review, loan settlement, documentation exception follow-up, resolution of operations problems, loan closing preparations and risk management mitigation.
  • Works closely with Commercial Banking Officer and Commercial Banking Assistant to obtain financials, borrowing base certificates, covenant compliance certificates, etc. 
  • Prepares quarterly reports on troubled assets assigned to the Commercial Banking Officer and work closely with the Special Assets group to resolve issues.
  • Is familiar with all credits in assigned portfolios and is actively involved with servicing issues with clients; interacts with loan operations as needed.
  • Is a problem solver for operational issues between Commercial Banking Officers, Commercial Banking Assistants, loan operations and other departments. 
  • Works closely with Commercial Banking Officer to assist in the management of the construction loan process.  This involves attending select site visits and requisition meetings with contractors and engineers to ensure compliance with loan agreements.

  • Assists in ensuring that the Bank is in compliance with local, state and federal regulations.

 

General:

Knowledge/Skills/Experience Requirements:              

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree/master’s degree helpful.
  • 5+ years of banking/commercial lending or credit experience with proven skills and demonstrated abilities preferred.
  • Understanding of commercial credit delivery and related policies and procedures.
  • Loan structuring, documentation, underwriting, and credit skills required.
  • Proven customer service skills.
  • Personal computer literacy.
  • Solid problem solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organization skills with an ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff and management.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects and satisfy deadlines.
  • Share the same sense of urgency with “team” members combined with the desire to exceed customer expectations.
  • Driver’s license and transportation required.

 

Physical Demands/Conditions Requirements:  

  • General office environment.
  • Moderate lifting (to 35 lbs.) required.  Moderate reaching, walking, sitting and standing required.
